The Women of MINPMEESA have undertaken a series of activities in the course of a week to mark the 37th edition of the International Women’s day celebrated this year under the theme “Female and male equality today for a sustainable future”. In prelude to the 8th of March, the female population of MINPMEESA was treated to a conference, health screening, training workshop, a sports walk, then a charity visit and finally a march pass at the 20th May Boulevard followed by a festive lunch.
These all began on Thursday 3rd March 2022 with a conference-debate on the theme “Promotion of the value chain: An asset for Sustainable Feminine Entrepreneurship” which took place at the Yaoundé International Handicraft Centre. With a host of experts present, presentations on four different themes were imparted. These included gender-based violence, household waste management, HIV/AIDS prevention and lastly, the promotion of value chains as an asset for sustainable female entrepreneurship. It should be noted that in the course of this day, a free HIV/AIDS screening campaign was organized by the Social Action Department of MINPMEESA. At the end of the conference-debate sessions, the participants were able to participate in a training workshop on the manufacturing techniques of liquid detergents.
Saturday 5th March, the energetic women of MINPMEESA were promptly, massively and actively present for a sport walk which began at 6 a.m. Worthy to mention that this exercise witnessed the presence of their male colleagues who came to support and cheer them up.
On Monday 7th March, the generous women of MINPMEESA paid a visit to the Yaounde II Social Center where they communed and shared with internally displaced women from the North West, South West and Northern Regions. Note that these generous women brought gifts of all sort to the internally displaced women. Amidst the jovial and friendly atmosphere which characterized the charity visit, Mrs. ATANGANA Joelle, Sub-Director of Budget and Material sitting in as representative of MINPMEESA solemnly handed over the gifts to the IDP women. She made it known to the ladies that despite their current predicaments, they should know that MINPMEESA is thinking about them.
