From 15 to 16 October 2020, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, Joseph TCHANA, carried out a working visit in Douala, Littoral Region. This visit, which was part of the triptych “listen, see and advise”, took the Secretary General to the premises of the JFN Institute of Technology business accelerator located in Bonapriso Douala, to the headquarters of the MINPMEESA Regional Delegation Littoral and the MINPMEESA Divisional Delegation Wouri, to the headquarters of the BSTP, to the Polytechnic School of Douala ex Faculty of Industrial Engineering (FGI) located in PK27 and to the Littoral handicraft village.
The Douala trip started with the customary courtesies presented by the Secretary General to Benjamin MBOUTOU, Senior Divisional Officer of the Wouri Division. The delegation held was made up of the Director of the Cameroon Subcontracting and Partnership Exchange (BSTP), the Director of SMEs, the MINPMEESA Regional Delegate Littoral, the Divisional Delegates of Wouri, Nkam, Moungo, Sanaga Maritime and the Coordinator of the Littoral Handicraft Village. The first major stop was at the headquarters of the JFN Institute of Technology business accelerator located in Bonapriso-Douala. This site also houses an institute dedicated to entrepreneurship training. The Secretary General visited this brand new headquarters before being led with his delegation by the promoter of the said business accelerator, to the Santa Barbara district where the future university that JFK Institute of Technology plans to set up will majestically stand on several hectares of land.
The second day was devoted to a visit to the services of MINPMEESA. In addition, the Senior Divisional Officer of the Wouri Division, the Secretary General, all their respective delegations and the media went down to the Bépanda-Bonabo quarter, where the land of the future headquarters of the Cameroon Subcontracting and Partnership Exchange (BSTP) is illegally occupied by anarchic constructions. The Senior Divisional Officer instructed the Forces of Law and Order (FMO) to accompany the mission to demolish the said anarchic constructions identified on this land which belongs to the State from the beginning of the week of 19October, 2020. This was followed by a restitution and debriefing meeting at the BSTP headquarters in Akwa in the presence of a representative of the Prime Minister’s office and a representative of MINDCAF.
The visit of the Secretary General of MINPMEESA to the economic capital of Cameroon continued in the premises of the Littoral Regional Delegation of MINPMEESA, then the Wouri Divisional Delegation, then the Littoral handicraft village. In all these services, the Secretary General recommended punctuality and rigour in the work to achieve the objectives set by the Minister of SMEs, Social Economy and Handicrafts, Achille BASSILEKIN III.
A tour of the grounds the incubator of the National Polytechnic School of Douala located in the PK17 district in Douala showed promising prototypes including the electric car assembled by the incubators of this centre and which is already ready for use. It is on this positive note that the two-day visit of the Secretary General, Joseph TCHANA, carried out on the high instructions of the Minister of SMEs, Social Economy and Handicrafts in the city of Douala, Littoral Region, ended.
